Hi all,
Was about to be the owner of a IX1 on the 9th and truck was on it's way, only to then get a call from dealer saying BMW have stopped delivery for a whole bunch of BMW's and Mini's and mine is one of them!
To date (19th) still nothing out of Munich to confirm the fault or anything, and if searching via https://www.bmw.co.uk/en/footer/quick-l ... calls.html nothing showing for the VIN.
Anyone aware of what is happening? Heard it was a brake/ABS related "issue"....potentially.
Seems this car was Built in Feb/Mar 2024
Aug 2024 Recall
Any one has an update on the current dealer stop on the Ix1 ?
After waiting 3 months longer than I was told for delivery the day before I was due to pick up the car BMW issued the Stop notice.
Does anyone know my rights if I now want to cancel my order and buy something else ?

Hi, unfortunately I don’t have the answers, but you’re not alone.
I also had this same call today from the dealer. BMW iX1 was due for delivery at the dealer next Friday, but advised of this same issue, and it’s now not due until ‘early October’. If you don’t mind me asking what dealer are you dealing with?

Hi jmb91,
My dealer is Vines Guildford, and I have just been told that the car should now be available for collection around the end of this month.
I have been told it was a software issue with the safety braking system where the front camera or radar recognises a vehicle slowing in front and you don’t apply the foot brake in response . Apparently this is not working as it should although the manual brake system works ok.
It seems that BMW had this issue before in January / February this year when delivery was also stopped, but I have only just found this out so disappointed that I was not made aware of this when I ordered the car. In the USA it appears that angry owners are considering a Class Action so it will be interesting to see what BMW do in the U.K.

I purchased a new iX1 last September got a recall letter for a brake problem contacted dealership was told not to worry car would be fitted with a new part in chassis number order nothing is likely to happen is Bmw position.
A few weeks later whilst turning near a Friends caravan my wife could not get the car to stop no matter how hard she pressed the brake, this resulted in major damage to the car and a caravan and I had to accelerate the car to full throttle to get it off the towbar of the caravan it was stuck on. I not one but they complained to Bmw who downloaded info. from the car computer to Germany only to be told we have no liability as the car was accelerated to 99% of total capacity 0.5 seconds before impact.
I requested evidence to conform this but Bmw won't supply it. I explained that if their facts are right there should be two spikes on the print out nmot one, but they do not want to know.
The recall letter said the brake might require more pressure that normal to work this seems to be what happened.
£ 54000 car now one year old getting qoute's from Bmw dealerships as a trade in of £ 30000 be very careful with brakes on these cars.
This is only a short resume of full story.
