I was told yesterday by BMW Service that there is a recall on the iX1 for a Drive shaft issue. He said that they were prioritising new deliveries but that they would call me soon.

Does anyone have any more details or experience?

I just spoke with Bavarian BMW in Belfast - they said there is no issues reported for my vehicle at the minute and no word of a potential recall. My car was built in April just for reference.

I have my bmw ix1 in the garage since the 22nd of july!! Yes, a big driveshaft issue; did not expect this from bmw!
The worst is that according to my dealer, bmw doesn't know if its a software issue or a (part) factory default, BRAVO BMW!
Production date; March 2023, imported to Seychelles and got the car end of May 2023,after 2 months...surprise! Pfffff
Thats what we call reliable!!

You can check whether your car has a recall listed for it here:

Sorry for hijacking the drive shaft recall thread!, but looks like my recall is to do with headlight adjustments damaging my paintwork! FFS!

My iX1 broke down on the 4August with a CCU Combined Charger Unit failure. The car was recovered to the dealership who took 2 weeks to repair and now they tell me the both front drive shafts need replacing due to a recall before they will release the car back to me. Very poor…

Is there anymore recent information about this?

Currently sat back in the dealership after getting a "Drivetrain Fault Drive Carefully" error and complete power loss on an A Road. Was nearly rear ended. BMW Roadside took 5 hours to collect the car and get me home after a night shift. Was completely exhausted after the ordeal.

So have been told the driveshaft has come away and damaged the motor. Both need replacing and there's a backlog of orders.

Is this the same problem as the recall OP first posted about?
