Hi there, just getting used to my new IX1 which is a step change from the previous cars I’ve owned in terms of tech, this forum has been great for info so thanks for that - having driven on the motorway yesterday I thought I’d get lights in the mirrors to warn of blind spots but that didn’t happen, does it work differently on BMW’s? Any help appreciated, many thanks

I expected blind spot warning to be part of standard equipment or at least driver assistance plus but in order to get blind spot warning driver assistance professional is needed.
Could this be the case for you also?

Thanks for the reply, I’m not sure if I have driver assistance professional or not! I have just taken a free trial of the driver assistance plus but don’t see anything about blind spot stuff there, I’d just assumed it would be standard. I’ll check it out a bit further.

Trying to research this online but just confusing myself further, everything I read seems to imply blind spot monitoring is standard but that doesn’t tally with the reality. Car is back at the dealers in a week so will try and get a definitive answer then! As an aside the driving assistance plus is pretty good but doesn’t seem to change lane for you (guess that’s the professional?) so don’t think I’ll continue past the free trial as pretty pricey per month.

For what it's worth, mine also does not include blind spot warning in the wing mirrors (and I have pretty much every option except driving assistance pro)

I'll be honest, I was quite disappointed to find I don't have it - seems like a pretty standard/basic feature on cars these days, and when you spend £62K on an almost fully spec'ed car to find you don't have it is a bit disappointing :(

I'll be interested to hear what your dealership says about yours when you take it in

I’ll let you know, however after researching online I just don’t think it’s included with our spec… (I have pretty much the same spec car as you I think). I have to agree it seems pretty mean on this car! Also think £50/month for effectively radar cruise and lane keep (driving assistance plus) is astronomical! My first BMW so maybe I’m used to Skoda prices! However I do really like the car….

Hi coming froom a fully loaded X5 45e i found it more or less impossible to not have at least adaptive cruise control and that requires paying for driver assistance plus.
This cost appr 35 GBP or 40 Eur/month or multiplied by 10 for a full year.
For three years it cost appr 550 GBP or 630 EUR and for ever its appr 790 GBP or 910 EUR.
Im opting to order for three years once the 3 month try out end in mid July.

My car was specified by the dealer and the only available with delivery this year so i just have to get over it🤔😉

I transitioned from a Jag FPace R Sport (6 years) - No idea why other than the tax incentive and the only 4x4 option in my work coy car choices! Sadly my company set a limit on extras and I think I have the most basic of models. The blind spot issue was the first thing I noticed. I drive around 24K per year with work and on busy motorways and dual carriage ways, I have to adopt back to "look over the shoulder" procedures when changing lanes. Like others on this chat I would have expected the blind spot feature to be standard. That said, I have a manual seat, manual folding mirrors, no charging pad, no heated screen and what seems to be very squeeky brakes - the drive though is very good and makes up for the negatives
